Το Audi Lunar Quattro θα πάει στο φεγγάρι [vid]

Το πρότζεκτ κατέχει υψηλή θέση και δημοτικότητα μέσα στα σχέδια της εταιρίας για τα επόμενα χρόνια, καθώς πάνω σ’ αυτό το μικρό ρομπότ εφαρμόζονται όλες οι νέες εξελίξεις σε ότι αφορά την αυτόνομη οδήγηση αλλά και την αντοχή ενός οχήματος σε ακραίες συνθήκες. Μάλιστα, η Audi ανακοίνωσε ότι έκλεισε ήδη θέση σε πύραυλο της εταιρίας Spaceflight, o οποίος θα εκτοξευθεί τέλη 2017 για να ταξιδέψει τα Lunar Quattro σε απόσταση 385.000 χιλιόμετρα έως την προσσελήνωση.

Πριν την αποστολή τα δύο όμοια Lunar θα δοκιμαστούν στα πιο αφιλόξενα μέρη της Γης. Κάθε ένα Lunar θα εξοπλίζεται με τέσσερις κάμερες που θα στείλουν από το φεγγάρι φωτογραφίες 3D και 350 μοιρών. Κατασκευαστικά, από τις τελευταίες αλλαγές που έχουν γίνει είναι πως τα οχήματα μεγάλωσαν σε διαστάσεις ώστε να μπορούν να ανταποκριθούν στο σκληρό ανάγλυφο του εδάφους της Σελήνης, ενώ μειώθηκε το βάρος έως 8 κιλά (συνολικό στα 30 κιλά) χάρη στην χρήση εξαρτημάτων κατασκευασμένων από αλουμίνιο σε 3D εκτυπωτές.
