Για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της η Ζ06 διαθέτει V8 που συνδυάζει μηχανικό υπερσυμπιεστή με επιδόσεις ταχύτερες ακόμη και από της ZR1!
Όπως είχαμε γράψει η νέα Corvette Z06 εξοπλίζεται με αναβαθμισμένη εκδοχή του V8 κινητήρα των 6,2 lt που συνδυάζεται με έναν τεράστιο μηχανικό υπερσυμπιεστή της Eaton με χωρητικότητα 1,7 lt με όριο περιστροφής τις 20.000 rpm (5.000 περισσότερες από τον «κομπρέσορα» της ZR1). Έτσι, η ισχύς ανέρχεται στα 635 άλογα με την ροπή να φτάνει τα 861 Nm και να μεταφέρεται στους πίσω τροχούς μέσω μηχανικού κιβωτίου με 7 σχέσεις ή αυτόματο με 8.
Το φουσκωμένο αμάξωμα της Corvette Z06 είναι φαρδύτερο κατά 56 mm εμπρός και κατά 80 mm πίσω ενώ υπάρχουν 19άρες ζάντες με ελαστικά 285/30 και 20άρες ζάντες με 335/20, αντίστοιχα. Προκειμένου να επιτευχθούν οι καλύτερες επιδόσεις υπάρχουν αρκετά ανθρακονήματα από τα οποία αποτελείται το καπό, η εισαγωγή του αέρα κ.α.
Ακόμη πιο hardcore είναι το πακέτο Ζ07 που περιλαμβάνει ακόμη πιο αναβαθμισμένο σασί με εμφατικά αεροδυναμικά βοηθήματα (για να παράγει το μεγαλύτερο κάθετο φορτίο που υπάρχει σε μοντέλο της GM), κεραμικά δισκόφρενα και αγωνιστικά ελαστικά ενώ σύμφωνα με την αμερικανική εταιρία η Z06 καταφέρνει να είναι πιο γρήγορη ακόμη και από την απερχόμενη ZR1!
